a Life Together… And Other Things
Hang on for dear life! This update will be all over the map.
The studio has been mostly without me for the past few weeks, and that's ok.
What I'm celebrating...
September 6th, 2022, would have been my parents' 75th wedding anniversary. What a gift that I'd be at my brother's home recently, going through their remaining belongings, and finding Mom's wedding ring. Her hands had become so gnarly with arthritis over the years that she had it looped on a chain behind a picture of my Dad and wore that around her neck until the day she died.
And now I wear it. The carved detail smooth from so many years, it's a constant reminder of their love for one another, of my roots, and provides inspiration and strength to go through the days ahead.
I'm celebrating my parents now as I did when their 70th anniversary challenged me to create something special to give them. The inception of Now & Then Custom Images was because of them, and every time I create one, I feel like I'm honoring them. It's rewarding for me to hear other people's personal stories, and to understand the reasons why they're compelled to honor a loved one with a meaningful gift like this.
A bit of news...
The Gratitude Collection is now in storage and it's wonderful gig at LaBelle Winery in Portsmouth has come to an end. For now. I'll leave you with that cliff hanger.
Annnnnnd...There are things in the works for a potential exhibition of The Gratitude Collection at a national museum in Canada in 2024. I'll leave you with that cliff hanger too.
The next bit of news...
Work on my next project for Positivity Panels is well underway. Late fall is the target to release new photo encaustic artwork for sale during an online event. You'll be able to view videos and photos of each piece so you can see the pieces and viscerally feel them up close and personal. This first set of Positivity Panels is called the "Abscission Series" (more on that here) and each piece will have an embedded Gingko leaf. These will only be available to Studio Friends so stay tuned for that!
Lastly...
“ONE” is now hanging on a wall in my home until it finds it's way to it's final destination. I love seeing it every day and it reminds me how grateful I am to be connected to each and every one of you and how happy I am you're here with me in the studio.
With gratitude,
PS Know anyone who’d be interested in being a Studio Friend? Please share this with them :-)
